From winter 24/25, you can take a brand new button lift up to the Lyktan restaurant, from where you can easily ski down to the Troll Forest. There are barbecue areas both at the top and bottom of the Troll Forest.
A cosy experience for the whole family
Trollskogen is best experienced with the whole family and a backpack filled with snacks and refreshments.
The forest trail is an easier ski slope that even small skiers can manage and enjoy.
Trollskogen consists of several different parts – discover Trollskogen, Tandtrollskogen, Trollens fäbod, the vehicle park, the children's sculpture park and the nature houses.
Troll craftsman Alf Skaneby – the artist behind the trolls in Trollskogen
Chainsaw sculptor and troll carpenter Alf Skaneby is the artist behind most of the 800+ trolls that exist in Trollskogen. Trollskogen came to life in 1998 when Alf carved the first trolls from trees in a natural ravine in the lower parts of the Hundfjället ski area.
From 1998 onwards, Alf spent several decades carving wooden trolls and maintaining their homes, school and church in Trollskogen in Hundfjället, Sälen. Many of the trolls are based on Alf's friends and acquaintances.

The magical world enchants 700,000 visitors every year
When he first started carving trolls, he could never have imagined how popular they would become. Today, more than 700,000 visitors explore the winding paths that criss-cross the 1.5 km long forest area every year. The magical world enchants everyone with its specially recorded troll sounds, twinkling lights, troll weddings, wizard school and much, much more.
Feel free to say hello to the accordion-playing troll
Unfortunately, Alf is no longer with us. He now lives on with his trolls, and you can always visit him at his own magical place in Trollskogen – feel free to say hello when you ski past the accordion-playing troll Alf.
